~ 16th SEASON ~

Rockland Community College and Rockland Shakespeare Company are very proud to present the line-up for our 16th Season!

We are also proud to announce the creation of a new outreach program, the

Rockland

Shakespeare

Company

Jr.

This is an offshoot of our regular annual production. The RSC Jr. was inspired by the devastating cuts to the East Ramapo School district, where arts activities were eliminated.

In answer to this, we are offering our small contribution by presenting a production of Romeo and Juliet primarily cast with High School students from the area.

Our traditional RSC season has also gone through changes this time around! Instead producing one show, we are producing two, running in repertory!

Rockland Shakespeare Company Co-Founders/Co-Artistic Directors - Christopher Plummer and Patty Maloney-Titland direct all three productions this season.

The 16th Annual Rockland Shakespeare Company Season

Inaugural RSC Jr. Production

Romeo and Juliet

June 28, 29, 30

Featuring many local area high school students as well as some RSC company members rounding out the cast. Come and enjoy our first ever pre-season event!

~ RSC Productions ~

Macbeth

July 11, 13, 19, 21

Set in an unsettling and violent world where Scotland becomes Westeros! The moves made by powerful people and the blood that flows as they climb the ladder to the top, will give Game of Thrones fans a familiar feeling. What will we see when we watch the Weird Sisters cast their spells and look into the fire?

Twelfth Night

or What You Will

July 12, 14, 18, 20

Love and hijinx abound in this romantic comedy where those that reside downstairs beguile those whom they serve upstairs! Come see Illyria transformed into a setting out of Downtown Abbey…only with more laughs!

As always, all performances are free to the public and begin at 7:00pm on the lawn behind the Cultural Arts Center on the campus of Rockland Community College. 145 College Rd. Suffern, NY 10901.
Bring a lawn chair and a blanket or just lounge on the ground and enjoy a little Bard under the stars!

Bernice F. Plummer
'Nanny'

The Bernice F. Plummer Memorial Shakespeare Project
The Project was Established in Order to Purchase actual Complete Works of Shakespeare Anthologies for School Children in the Area and to Promote Literacy and the Arts in Education.

A Great Loss for the RSC

"If it be now, 'tis not to come.
If it be not to come, it will be now.
If it be not now, yet it will come.
The readiness is all."

On the 29th of July, 2006, the RSC and all of its members experienced a tremendous loss.

Bernice F. Plummer, 'Nanny' to those who knew and loved her so dearly, passed away peacefully - in the arms of her loving family.

Nanny was, is and always will be one of the RSC's biggest supporters and grandest inspirations. She will forever be missed. Nanny loved Shakespeare and never missed a show that the Rockland Shakespeare Company or the SUNY Rockland Performing Arts Department presented.

As her heart began to slow its pace...Chris recited a piece of one of their favorite sonnets to her...

"If I could write the beauty of your eyes
And in fresh numbers, number all your graces,
The age to come would say, "This poet lies,
Such heavenly touches ne'er touched earthly faces"

It is true.
Nanny was indeed an Angel and her legacy is the incredible love that she shined on all she met. We can all learn a bit of that from Nanny.

After all...

"Love begets Love"

Indeed.

We love and miss you dearly, Nanny.
Forever and a day.
